Alignment is the proper positioning of parts in relation to each other.
We know our cars need aligning when we are pulled in another direction while driving, feel a stronger than usual vibration, or the wheels show improper wear. Whether from regular, prolonged use or damage from impact, it takes awareness and maintenance to keep a car running smoothly.

“When our heart, soul, mind and body are properly connected and maintained, we can function as God intended - integrated, aligned and moving in His direction.”
Know Your Parts
In the 12th chapter of Mark, Jesus says the greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. For years, I thought this to be a poetic reference that was a bit vague and repetitive, although beautiful. In the early stages of my healing I learned that each of those components have a separate, distinct title and function. It wasn't until I learned about those different, yet joined parts that I was able to identify places I kept getting stuck.
A car breaks down for several, differing reasons. When we study the basic dynamics of its design, we are better able to address and correct causes of malfunction. When our heart, soul, mind and body are properly connected and maintained, we can function as God intended - integrated, aligned and moving in His direction.
Heart: Kardia - our desire, moral and decision making center
Soul: Psuchè - our breath, the self and personal identity
Mind: Dianoia - our disposition, thoughts and reasoning capability
Strength: Ischus - our might, force and power ability

Our heart is our motivator and requires examination and purification for healthy, truth circulation.
Our soul is our unique, personal experience, made for loving connection with God and other souls.
Our mind manages our behavior and processes information, needing renewal for transformation.
Our body is the physical, outward operator of the commands of our heart, soul and mind.
We are indeed, "Fearfully and wonderfully made", Psalm 139:14. Learning our amazing design and how we were made to function is the first step in bringing back order to our lives.
Alignment prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for your wonderful creation of me. I ask that you teach me how to love you with all my heart, soul, mind and strength; my desires, emotions, thoughts, relationships and body, because you are worthy. In Christ's Name, amen.
